Since the election, there is an increased sense of urgency amongst many in the transgender community about securing identity documents that reflect their identities, and a need for trained attorneys to help complete the paperwork.

Join the LGBT Bar Association of Los Angeles and Bet Tzedek for an MCLE training to learn how to complete the paperwork necessary to obtain a court order changing one's name and gender in California.

The training will cover the paperwork necessary to file a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court; fee waivers; the process for changing federal identity documents like passports and immigration paperwork; and special considerations for undocumented immigrants, people with criminal records, and youth under 18.

After the training, you can also sign up to volunteer with Bet Tzedek Legal Services at clinics at the LGBT Center and Children's Hospital of Los Angeles that will be held over the next couple of months.*  (You do not need to commit to volunteering at any clinics to receive the training).

*we will also be providing the same training as part of the all-day community legal clinic on 12/11/2016.  Volunteers for that clinic can attend either this training or the one on 12/11.
