How do I join LGLA?
First
access our online
application. Select a username and password and fill out
each of the fields highlighted with bold type and click the
"submit" button in the lower left corner of the
page.
LGLA
respects your privacy and offers you the choice to make your
information private, available to members only, or open to
the public. You can enter as much or as little information
as you wish. Selecting "Private" restricts access
to your information to LGLA's leaders on a "need to know"
basis; your information is not distributed further. Selecting
"Members Only" allows other LGLA members to search
for your information (i.e., allowing members to look up one
another's contact or other information). Selecting "Public"
allows all visitors to the membership center to access your
information (i.e., to permit non-members to search for an
attorney that practices in a particular field). All information
you enter on the site is held in confidence unless you authorize
it to be disclosed. Click the "submit" or "next"
button in the lower left corner of the page.
Continue
to enter as much or as little information in each of the successive
pages. Again, click the "submit" or "next"
button in the lower left corner of the page after you are
finished with each page.
Once
you reach the final page, click the "done" link.
You will
then be taken to the LGLA Members Menu. You may see an error
message stating that your membership is not current. Don't
worry, once your application has been reviewed, you will be
asked to submit your annual dues, which you may also do online.
If you
have any questions during this process, please contact our
Directory Administrator.

You can
always log on to the membership center to update your contact
information or modify your privacy preferences. Simply log

Menu page, scroll down to the "Update Your Listing"
table and from there to the "Privacy Options" link.
From this page you can control how public or private you want
your information to be.

How
can I search for an attorney who practices in a particular
field?
Unfortunately,
LGLA is not a licensed referral service and therefore cannot
refer you to an attorney. However, some LGLA members have
chosen to make their practice areas and contact information
available to the public. You may search for an attorney practicing
in the field you need through our online membership center.
From there, scroll down to the "members you may find
by search information they have chosen to make public"
link. From that link you can scroll down until you reach the
"Practice Areas" portion of the page. Click on the
appropriate box(es). Scroll down to the bottom of the page
and click the "Find" button. The site will display
your results in a table format. Simply click on the "Detail"
link to the left of each name for information on how to contact
that attorney.
Please
note, LGLA cannot vouch for any attorney, cannot guarantee
they will accept your case, and makes no representation about
the outcome of your case.

How
can I search for an LGLA member by name?
If you
are a current LGLA member, login first. This is important
because some LGLA members have chosen to make their information
available only to other LGLA members. From there, locate the
"Find Members" portion of the screen. Enter the
member's last name and click the "Find" button (if
you are unsure of the spelling of their name, simply enter
the first few letters). The names of any members with that
name who have chosen to make their information available to
other members will be displayed. Simply click on the "Detail"
link to the left of each name for more information. If the
name you are searching for is not displayed, that person may
no longer be an LGLA member, or may have opted not to make
their information available to other LGLA members.
If you
are not a current LGLA member, link to our online
membership center. From there, scroll down to the "all
members who have chosen to make their names public" link.
From that link all corresponding members' names will be displayed
in alphabetical order. Scroll down until you find the name
of the member you are looking for. If that member's name is
not on the first page, click the "Next" button on
the center of the bottom portion of the page. Continue searching
until you find the name you are looking for. Once you find
that name, simply click on the "Detail" link to
the left of each name for information on how to contact that
attorney. If you do not find that person, they may no longer
be an LGLA member, or may have opted not to make their information
available to the public.

How
can I renew my membership?
If you
are a current LGLA member, and have registered for the http://www.memdir.org/lgla/default.cfm
(i.e., you have a username and password) login
first. From there locate the "Membership Renewal"
link in the middle-left area of the page. Click on that link
and select the appropriate membership level (LGLA general
members dues are tied to income, so look for the corresponding
income group on the right hand portion of the page). Once
you have determined the appropriate membership level, decide
whether you prefer to pay by check or via PayPal and click
the corresponding button. If you have never paid through PayPal,
you will have to register with them to make a secure credit
card payment. If you have already registered with PayPal,
enter your password and click the "Continue" button
in the lower right hand portion of the screen. If you select
payment by check, an invoice will be displayed. Simply print
out the invoice, and mail it along with your payment to the
address provided.
If you
are a current LGLA member, but HAVE NOT registered for the
online membership center
(i.e., you do not have a username and password), you will
first need to register following the "How do I join LGLA"
directions above. Once you have registered, return to the
"How can I renew my membership" instructions above.
