Mission Statement
History of LGLA

In addition to our annual Summer Associates Reception, and Rand Schrader Student Reception in the Fall, LGLA partners with law student organizations throughout Southern California. LGLA has also been represented at Bar Association days at Loyola and Southwestern, and offered speakers for panels on getting employment, and in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA), sponsored a panel entitled "Out in the Legal Profession", moderated by Judge Stephanie Sautner.

LGLA also offers the Donald L. Snow Scholarship, which is awarded annually to deserving area law students. Applications for the 2007 scholarship must be postmarked by October 20, 200
7. The application can be downloaded here.

LGLA has dedicated our Mentorship Program to the memory of our longtime friend and LGLA pioneer William J. Clayton. The program will be known as the William J. Clayton Mentorship Program and will continue to connect volunteer attorneys with interested students to provide career guidance and mentorship. Interested attorneys may download a mentor application. Student members of LGLA will receive applications by mail in September, or may download a mentee application. Applications will also be available through local law schools. To join, or for more information, contact LGLA.

In addition to scholarships administered by LGLA, we also offer information on scholarships for other LGBT-friendly organizations.

We are proud to announce the National Lesbian & Gay Law Association's Michael Greenberg Student Writing Competition. NLGLA's competition is open to all students enrolled in accredited law schools during the 2003/2004 year. The submission deadline is June 15, 2004. You may download more information here.
